since you asked, it's my favorite spot while school is in session. During the summer the deluge of toddlers, and high school students makes it impossible to have a coherent thought let alone read.

So, I suppose that all the general places have been covered. It's about time to chime in with the unusual.

I suffer from insomnia, so sometimes at about 2/3.00am I sit on a bench by a nearby reservoir and read by the light of my phone. It's a really nice feeling to be the only person around in a place like that, and to hear the bats and herons flapping about in the middle of the night.

That sounds really nice.

I always read on my bed. I eventually find reading siting up uncomfortable, so I need to be lying down. Although I wish I could get outside out in the middle of nowhere, without a building in sight, and find a spot like yours. That would be kick ass.

They only exist outside of the city.
I even live in the suburbs, and it's at least a 20 mile drive to a park that's sparsely populated.
Those citizens pay for the park and expect to use it! HMPH

I have to start doing this. I live in the suburbs as well, although I live pretty close to the edge of my city (Canberra, Australia), so there's nothing but bush land as far as the eye can see.

My aunts house in Galway, sitting by the fireplace with a blanket.
Mostly because, even though the has digital tv and broadband, I see her place as rural with nothing to do but read. Which I love. Whenever I visit I get through a good chunk of books.

People actually stay long enough on the toilet to be able to read anything of a decent length?

I stay at most about five minutes, usually 2-3. Stewing in the smell of my own excrement isn't exactly the most pleasurable sensations.

I love to read in the tub. Otherwise soaking gets a bit boring, and I'm guaranteed to be left alone while I'm in there.

In the garden, as I've done for a few years. It's great in Spring and Summer. There's this nice spot where the sun if from about 12 until 5, so I read there for most of the afternoon.
