Sowell isn't wrong about everything, he's just an 80s remnant of popular economics that sought to have people look at private firms as performing the utility of public goods and disallowing excess wealth from being used for public weal; instead always reinvested in economic ends. That impulse for never allowing money to be used for anything but wealth generation has led us to where we are now, and it still reigns supreme. He is therefore an enemy of anyone who thinks wealth disparity must be eliminated; but there must surely be a middle ground between "wealth distinction is categorically unjust" and "I can't measure the monetary value of public works so FUCK EM"

Aside from all that, it's fairly obvious that he's still popular in a way other neoliberals aren't because he's black, and therefore absolves the race dimension for people who think that prosperity cannot exist unless someone is made to suffer for it. I actually like Sowell, as far as reaganites go, but I still disagree with him on the above points about economics
