getting pretty sick of seeing this soiboy on my board. Sure, the cute girl at my dispensary said she was reading him and we talked for awhile, thanks to the shilling here I at least knew the name of his novels. But I can tell he is a fag and his books are gay. He doesnt seem like he has any edge to him. Just a little basll of rice who is sad or something, seems lame. pic unrelated

I seriously doubt the sort of woman who would work in a dispensary would have good taste in literature, and this post reaffirms that assumption.

She also had a septum piercing if that helps paint the picture.

I read a lot of murakami books at uni because all the hot chicks in my lit class liked him. Overall they are mostly full of strange descriptions and softcore porn. Murakami basically writes I novels about his sexual fantasies and supernatural stuff. Still can’t tell if i truly like his work or not.
Killing Commendatore- 6/10 beginning is great but the book feels like a train going uphill. It seems to lose momentum as it goes on. Protagonist is a cuck who is friends with a pedo.
Wind/ Pinball 1973- 7/10 Really good books to see how Murakami developed his writing style. These are very easy to read and entertaining enough.
A Wild Sheep Chase- 8/10 Great setting, interesting characters, his best surrealism overall. Many anons would identify with the Rat.
Dance Dance Dance 8/10 My favourite Murakami novel. The movie star character was the most interesting part about the book. Didn’t like the whole super smart child trope and the protagonist child relationship was weird af.
Sputnik Sweetheart 5/10 kind of boring, has lesbian foreplay and a rape scene.
Colourless and his years of pilgrimage 3/10 really boring hardly feels like a pilgrimage at all. Kind of a worse Norwegian Wood in third person
Hard Boiled Wonderland 7/10 interesting setting feels like he basically expanded on the mystical forest setting in Kafka on the shore
IQ84 6/10 so far haven’t finished it tho
Wind up bird - haven’t read it yet
Kafka on the shore- 8/10 gave me a tall girl Mommy fetish
Norwegian Wood 8/10 suicidal girls are hot. Fucking an ugly mature lady was kinda cringe

Im reading men without women at the moment, the first two stories are pretty great.

Thanks for the post, I was looking forward to read colourless and Sputnik my love, mainly because I read that the first one is somewhat melancholic? I love that kind of literature.

Colourless is for sure the definition of melancholic but murakami just really isn’t that great at third person writing. Hear the wind sing seems to also focus on melancholy but feels more raw.
