>decide in order to understand plato I need to understand his historical context so read a dozen supplementary ancient historical texts
>read Plato
>decide I need to understand him better before reading Aristotle
>start reading academic scholarly texts and essays the size of novels to understand Plato
>start rereading plato to understand the academics
>realize it's been 3 years and I've read nothing but ancient greek platonic texts and no other philosophy
>realize I didn't really get anything out of plato
>but it was fun
