After Godel proved his two most famous theorems and destroyed Russel's life work, Russell lost any will in his life and gave up mathematics.

The man was the biggest cuck of the 20th century. He was actually more christian than Jesus himself and criticized him for not being weak and lenient enough.
>There is one very serious defect in my mind in Christ's moral character, and that is that He believed in hell. I do not myself feel that any person who is really profoundly humane can belive in everlasting punishment.

I think it's honestly fine to call out Nietzsche for being a dopey larper. I'll be the first to admit that Nietzsche was an insightful writer, but the older I get, the harder it is to take much of his work seriously.

Russell was at least politically active in some capacity. Nietzsche's work is a pure larping nonsense whenever he wasn't doing "historical" analysis of some kind.
When I was younger I found Russell intolerable, but as I've grown older, I find Nietzsche far more irritating.

>> No.20499119

The reason Nietzsche irritates you is because with age you've grown more bitter and don't like Nietzsche's life affirming philosophy.

That's one way of looking at it. But I don't know how else to characterize it as anything else but the juvenile fantasies of a man forced into a sedentary lifestyle.
I still do appreciate some of what Nietzsche did, but I think it's important to separate his serious philosophical work from the glorified self-help books he produced.

How old are you? I've never been able to stomach Neech, even in my early 20s, whereas Russel, while you have to overlook some of his more pronounced species of retardation, comes of comparatively well.

I grew tired of Nietzsche at around 24. I think Russell and Nietzsche are both similar in that certain portions of their respective bodies of work are much better than others, but the worst parts are the most popular.

Reminder poo poo Bertrand got btfoed so hard by D.H. Lawrence that he almost killed himself:
>"I was inclined to believe that he had some insight denied to me, and when he said that my pacifism was rooted in blood-lust I supposed he must be right. For twenty-four hours I thought that I was not fit to live and contemplated suicide" (Autobiography ii, 14). In the six pages of his autobiography in which he recounts his relationship with Lawrence, Russell mentions three times that he felt that Lawrence was possessed of a kind of insight into human nature deeper than his own logical mind would allow.

>have backtracked so much on eternal punishment
When exactly did the Church say Hell isn't real?

>> No.20499960

>>20499667
Lawrence was right of course, though it was a universal statement that just so happened to apply to Russel as well as it does to all humans. I've never experienced some act or statement which has made me suddenly consider suicide as a more sensible choice than it had been before. Of course, if I did it would be indirect, since I so rarely have either the platform or inclination to put forward my views to enable them to be so attacked. I imagine this is a large part of it, and that it's difficult to intellectually isolate your ideas from the psychological impulses which you, and you alone, know to have spawned, nurtured and been intimately associated with them. I suppose it's like that thing with children (and nervous introverts) who don't understand how difficult it is to see into others' minds, and thus quickly confess to things their interrogators know nothing of.

Of course I do have general suicidal urges, but I struggle to see how someone could exacerbate them through attacking my intellectual views. Attacking the intellect that created (/copied) them, yes; but the ideas themselves? No.

Which parts? Midwitstein has the memequote that's posted in every thread about how Russel's only good work is his logic. Being a retard (though one with the aptitude to study logic choosing to do so rather than mathematics would prove himself to be even retardider) I can say nothing about it, though.

I hate most of Neech, but, as I take a lot of inspiration from Schopey, I read Will to Power with my left hand gripped firmly on my testicles, as with each page Neech retroactively discovered views which I'd independently constructed. On one hand it's nice not knowing you were groping around in the dark, on the other it just hurts.

Purgatory has absolutely zero scriptural basis. It's just a softening of dogma to ease in greater indulgences. Plus most modern apologists, even of the Based and Redpilled Lewis/Chesterton variety get embarrassed about Hell alone.
