hollander and bellows are both worth reading. bellows is the version tolkien read, if youre interested in norse myths connections to modern fantasy. its a bit difficult to get into any translation however, its a very archaic and cryptic text and takes a while to comprehend. read the notes and annotations and look up anything thats not explained well.

Dead, worthless writing, fitting for a "religion" used by LARPagans today. Christ is King.

Read parallel text while singing the Old Norse part for authentic experience.

It's impossible to encompass all the meaning without every verse being too long.
Just the composite nature of the words can contribute to the poetic meaning but you can't separate the words into those components in translation.

I'm reading the kalevala right now. Pretty cool, but there's alot less mythology and alot more talking about weddings than I was expecting. The overall gist is pretty neat. I like how the magicians battle eachother with magic, and one of the main lessons to take from the book is "bitches ain't shit but hoes and tricks" so it's pretty timeless, really. I have like 15 more "runes" (chapters) to read
