Movement is the nature of all things.
The essence of things is what lies between.

Everything comes together, while things fall apart.
The many become one, and are increased by one as one among many.
The cosmos weaves.

A creator is as much created by the act of creating as a creation.
There is no creator, and no creation, instead co-creativity between the many.

The entire universe dies and is reborn in the present moment.
The ashes of the past endures, while the future allures.

Life is a wager by an organism about the possibility of success.
To seek the unanticipated is the ultimate life-affirming act.

I can't help but feel like this advocation for tripfaggotry is the work of a foreign and subversive influence with the intent of undermining the culture and discussion of this place. They want people to have an identity here so they can attack other people's identity to discredit them but play the victim when their own gets attacked. Once tripfags become mainstream and anon posters are ostracized this place will be completely unrecognizable and indiscernible from any other non-anonymous website. We must vigilantly bully tripfags and separate our egos from our identity.

It's literally just me. I started using a trip like 3 days ago because I have been having delusions where I gain a cult like following on /lit/. Later, I also happen to publish a revolutionary poetry book that defines my generation and causes waves of suicides to sweep across the nation.
On all the posts that I actually put effort into I can get a lot of replies, and have gotten compliments here on lit for my writing. Sometimes it's just blogposts about a walk to the grocery store, other times It's about when I killed 3-5 people in Afghanistan. I started advocating for trips today because I think it will be fun, and also as a preemptive defense for my new trip-approved posts. The fact that I have already seen a crop of new trips sprout is very encouraging to me.

On the topic of antiquity and the printing press:

Obviously all the necessary technological elements for the development of the printing press were there in ancient Rome. Why didn't it occur to them? Perhaps it did, but was perceived as an impersonal mechanized perversion. Literary and scientific texts should not have flowed with the ease of coinage--a debasement of their worth and purpose. Manual or memorized transmission preserve their divine or perhaps even just intrinsic humanistic purpose, to subject such to such an impersonal, mechanical, almost automatonic, method of reproduction was to sap them of some fundamental je ne sais quoi--a prejudice that perhaps operated at a culture-wide unconscious level among the elites, and so a subliminal discrimination against the invention persisted throughout antiquity and Middle Ages.

The spread of the Wiccan and related neo-pagan religions especially among women is not a complicated question. If we examine the various options of religion we will find in all of them some basic requirements, whether that is a book of law and practice to study and obey, a communal responsibility and general code of honor, some manner of anti materialist or anti-consumerism, or at minimum at least some manner of ritually joining the group and some communal aspect to it. Wicca and the worst aspects of neo-paganism (which aren’t substantially different from Wicca) do not have this, now you may point to Gardner and his book of shadows, you may point to the religions they claim to be based on, except that wiccans threw out their religions founder for trying to create rules, and the forms of religion they try to imitate are some of the most dead things possible, namely celtic paganism which didn’t even use cult images until Romans forced them to, and at no point themselves wrote down their lore, only many years later did Christians record Christianized forms of their lore, that plus some folk charms is all that exists plus the most vague implication of archeology (of which the pagans will often ignore as tryhard.) the Norse material is only somewhat better but requires a genuine level of scholarliness to even approach something resembling a model, though its community aspects can have some existence. Now why do I mention all of this?

Because these women are vain, and Wicca and neo-paganism gives them a religious vanity, a feeling of being mystical and powerful and deep, all without ever having to read a single book, go to a single group meeting or perform a single community ritual. There is no required witchcraft baptism or Eucharist, you just decide you’re one and boom now you can call yourself a witch. The men that often get involved are effeminates, goths, and with Norse religion I have seen both irl and online people convert SOLELY because of Skyrim. but in a way I respect that group more, Skyrim and similar lore heavy media gives a lot of these people the sense of religious metaphysics and mysteries they’re lacking irl, so many of them buy the aesthetic and just embrace one of these empty religions.

It is most definitely the worse with Wicca though, for all it needs to spread is a teenage girl seeing a tiktok video and boom instantly you can call yourself such, and since these people are vain they get an extremely gaudy “aesthetic “ religion which they can just make up as they go along, and since these people are often edgy and transgressive, because most modern people are at some level, they get to larp like they’re hot shit evil sorcerers and witches. So that’s what it is, the biggest group is vain faggots looking for an aesthetic, the sadder group are people who crave deeply for religion but only really have exposure to video games and social media.

>Obviously all the necessary technological elements for the development of the printing press were there in ancient Rome.
I don't think ancient Rome had the metallurgy technology to appropriately produce a bunch of tiny steel character stamps. Maybe printing presses could've just been made with bronze, iron, and wood though. Ink was probably also too expensive to use for anything other than delicate writing. But the Mesopotamians had a way "printing" clay tablets, so it wasn't impossible that the Romans could've figured something out. Literacy also probably played a role in it. The Holy Roman empire likely had a much higher literacy rate than ancient Rome, so there was more of a need to mass-produce books.

As a society? well we'd have to give up on worshipping companies and understand that clothes are not something to discard every month. But thats not going to happen so perhaps we should encourage people to value their attire more not just as in a sense of fashion but that it should last for a long time and thus people would reflect on the practical application of their attire.

As an individual we should consider mainly the materials of the product and genuinely if they are that valuable, we should also be content with them being ruined or stained because that will happen. Choice clothing that you feel genuinely comfortable in but also suits the purpose of your job.

In general, I consider myself a person with healthy or even progressive views on race. But there are one thing I truly envy whites for.

The Faustian spirit. The urge to explore or build or develop, that is something whites have that I crave. I love stories about explorers, but outside of whites, who is there? Ibn Battuta and Zheng He, that is it. Whites have Columbus, Lewis and Clark, Amundsen, Hillary, Heyerdahl, Armstrong... so many. Sir Edmund Hillary troubles me in particular. For thousands of years my genetic cousins were content to live in the shadow of Chomolungma, but it was a European who conquered Everest. It's not just historical figures. Look at extreme sports, urban exploration, and the like on YouTube. Everyone is white. The Faustian spirit is in them. Why is it not in my people? Why is it not in me?

Sometimes I imagine getting a blood transfusion from a European blood source, to imbue myself with the Faustian spirit.

All history is aesthetics. Politics, economics, mathematics, religion - it's all aesthetics, a preference of style. No one system is better than the other. There is no progression or evolution, only in the sense that preference for a new style might arise out of the boredom of a previous one. The fluidity of the Baroque might be seen as a reaction to the formalism of the Renaissance, but it in no way must be thought of as a progression or improvement on the Renaissance.

This view is remarkably freeing. I no longer automatically hold contempt for a particular political system or method of culture, because in the end it's all preference on a macrohistorical scale. It is the height of hubris to believe in an end of history, as if history is a teleology aimed at perfecting itself. The prospect is so derivatively Faustian as to be banal. In reality there is no perfection, no real working out or exploration of ideas, no progression from a primitive state of mind to one that is more refined. These views are themselves style, a particular aesthetic of interpreting history unique to modern civilization.

Anger is easily mistaken for power. The phenomenology of anger is the attempt to assert power over circumstances which rebuke it. Anger is power that is absent or threatened. Not emotion could be more self-contradictory. Anger is a sign of weakness, of vulnerability. Psychologically anger is the effort to turn inside out personal incapacities, it is the externalization of frustration. Anger is the point at which one recognizes the inability to emotionally self-regulate and to therefore take it out on the external world or facets of it.

Why is anger an ignorant emotion? Because it rarely solves problems. This begs the question: from an evolutionary functionalist perspective why does anger exist as an emotion if it has no utility?

According to theorists:

>Eleven predictions derived from the recalibrational theory of anger were tested. This theory proposes that anger is produced by a neurocognitive program engineered by natural selection to use bargaining tactics to resolve conflicts of interest in favor of the angry individual. The program is designed to orchestrate two interpersonal negotiating tactics (conditionally inflicting costs or conditionally withholding benefits) to incentivize the target of the anger to place greater weight on the welfare of the angry individual. Individuals with enhanced abilities to inflict costs (e.g., stronger individuals) or to confer benefits (e.g., attractive individuals) have a better bargaining position in conflicts; hence, it was predicted that such individuals will be more prone to anger, prevail more in conflicts of interest, and consider themselves entitled to better treatment. These predictions were confirmed. Consistent with an evolutionary analysis, the effect of strength on anger was greater for men and the effect of attractiveness on anger was greater for women. Also as predicted, stronger men had a greater history of fighting than weaker men, and more strongly endorsed the efficacy of force to resolve conflicts—both in interpersonal and international conflicts. The fact that stronger men favored greater use of military force in international conflicts provides evidence that the internal logic of the anger program reflects the ancestral payoffs characteristic of a small-scale social world rather than rational assessments of modern payoffs in large populations
(https://www.cep.ucsb.edu/topics/anger.htm))

But if anger is a negation strategy why does it deliver such poor outcomes? Why is it such a destructive emotion? Perhaps religion overrides science here. Wrath is a sin. A source of spiritual weakness, representing the defeat of higher character, the death of wisdom.

Yet recognizing this truth about anger only suffices to make me more angry. What's the escape? I am angry for good reason, yet powerless to correct the circumstances which make me angry. Or else I wouldn't be angry.
Hence the relationship between anger and violence. As violence is the ultimate manifestation of the externalization of frustration. Violence is the effort to break the world which is contradictory to one's aims. At its evolutionary roots, violence has a rational logic, and under specific conditions, still does. More often than not, however, violence leads to more anger which leads to more violence, but since the essence of anger is frustration it's clear how this cycle leads to a downward spiral. Civilization is a structure built on primitive violence with pinnacles built on intelligence . As John Quincy Adams said,"I have to study politics and war so that my sons can study mathematics, commerce and agriculture, so their sons can study poetry, painting and music."

Ontology is nearly a synonym of metaphysical. I use it as a word for "a person's 'metaphysic'" or you could say worldview. But not exact synonymous otherwise why would it be a new word.

Epistemology is more about HOW we know what we know and do we really know it.

Good post.
My hunch is that anger has a lot of utility. That evolutionary perspective forgets the physiological effects of anger, much like stress it almost certainly causes a sudden increase of cortisol which means a sudden spike of blood glucose (by metabolizing fat stores and muscle) which very literally increases the power potential of the organism. If you need brute force - then anger is a means towards it.
I also suspect since anger is not exactly a desirable state the aversive quality of it is also useful. In the same way we avoid things that make us sad, we avoid things which make us angry which obviously has net-gains. Sort of self-regulated operant conditioning... but not really.
>>20460279
What about like when a door won't "budge" and someone gets angry, so they push it with more force (because: blood glucose) and it does move?
It wasn't a lack of knowledge about how doors work or leverage which frustrated their opening of the door, it was insufficient force.
Believe me, I know that 90% of the time when I get angry it is out of ignorance (i.e. when I get frustrated with bureaucratic systems, or can't find what is the 'bug' in a system, or when I didn't know what would make my ex-gf happy hence why she's my ex) but ignorance is not the universal root of anger and not all anger comes from ignorance.
Anger I suspect is a physiological response when a surge of energy is useful and is not directly the result of needing a strategy to combat insufficient knowledge or information in a given situation.

Ontology is the study of what is. It's about the nature of being and what it means for something to exist . Epistemology is the study of knowlege. It's interesting that the theory in your post differntiates anger between men and women as being a force based on strength for men and a force based on attractiveness for women. The way that each form is expressed therefore also differntiates. A man's anger generally presents itself as an uncontrolled burst of strength and power while a woman's anger takes a more insidious and slow acting form, albeit while still lacking some aspect of controlled rationality. I believe that older forms of society allowed the mans' anger to achieve results, with women essentially being reliant on it in prehistoric times, and over time it has become less and less useful to the point that in modern day it is widely viewed as a detriment. Meanwhile the woman's form of anger has become more and more useful, allowing her to use time and undercover tactics to achieve her desired result.

Well as old Willy used to say, hell hath no fury like a woman's scorn. The conclusion I am drilling at is that anger is a futile emotion. Men and women express anger differently because their anatomy and physiology affords them different behavioral strategies. A man generally has the physical capacity to damage what frustrates him physically, while a woman does not, because they live aside generally physically stronger than men. Both take the path of least resistance. As civilization and the rule of law has developed over the centuries, however, the standard male form of aggression, beating up or threatening that whom upsets you is less viable because it has been criminalized. This leaves only the more female oriented strategy of emotional aggression open. Even then, nobody likes a "bitch." Nasty women are still nasty and nobody prefers to negotiated issues through the mechanisms of anger unless their wisdom fails them and there is no other option.

I can’t understand believing in god and taking advantage of your fellow men. The church explicitly condemned usury for centuries.
But go along, spend your whole life projecting the words of anyone who reminds you of the responsibilities that come along with the christian faith into the image of an atheist or a liberal.

I dont practice usury. I'm a little worried though. I keep being told that I need to build credit if I ever want to buy a house or get anykind of loan. It seems usury is so built into the system that it cant be avoided.
I'll at least never impose usury on another person. I dont think it's a sin to take a loan.

Marxists suddenly became pro corporations when the trans movement gained momentum. Now they desperately need big pharma for the surgeries to chop their balls off, for the hormones and for the medicines that they will consume for their rest of their lives. Its amazing how many of these marxists are actually transexuals and supported big pharma while it made billions with the covid vaccines.

For years I have not been able to understand what the fuck an "egregore" was. And /x/ers would get mad at me for even asking. Then I read a fucking ribbonfarm essay and now I think I get it: it's any sort of belief in an entity such as a person, a deity, or a community that irrespective of whether they are 'real' or not, causes a tangible influence on people's behaviour.
Santa Claus is a egregore because little kiddies all over the world change their behaviour in the hope of getting presents for Christmas.
Why the fuck couldn't someone explain it to me when it's so simple...? They always go on this circular bullshit.
>an egregore is a thoughform held by multiple people, and a thoughform is the form... of a thought... and thoughts are real, you just can't touch them
Just say, "you know how Santa Claus is only an idea, but he has real world effects? That's an Egregore. You how people change their behaviour to avoid the fear of public humiliation, who is that public? They don't know. that shared idea of a 'public' out there that might judge them is a egregore."

As they should. Most of the ones I know either practice it or dream of engaging in usury. A lot of people on this site also tend to favour it. For example, anyone who dares to male any critic towards landlords will see anons crawling out of the woodworks to defend them.

Yes, we live in a usury based society. Avoiding it is a hard task. I’m not so die hard as to go around condemning everyone who engages in it at any level, but it’s depressing to see so many others promoting it and shamelessly embracing its practice.

I think the biggest problem of our age that should be addressed in education is how people can't distinguish between additive and multiplicative risk.
If you walk through a dangerous neighborhood only three times a year, chances are nothing will happen to you, but if you walk through it every day for a year, chances are something will happen to you assuming a uniform distribution of risk. However, in many situations people forget that the more you interact with a system or an environment, the more you change the risk distribution.
Maybe you walk through the dangerous neighborhood, maybe you crack some jokes with the local thugs and they respect you, now your actual risk of getting jumped or robbed goes down with successive visits.
or just the opposite, they study you, they learn your habits, they see you get paid on a Thursday, and so wait for you near a dead-end alleyway so they can jump you on a Thursday.
If your car is making a funny noise, ignoring it will make the underlying problem get WORSE as whatever is worn will accelerate towards catastrophic failure. You're multiplying the risk every time you drive: you're changing the risk distribution.
I also realize that one of this was explained to me in school. People always talk in 'percentages' and it's like: motherfucker, that percentage is only applicable at a particular snapshot in time.

I'll have to think about that, you're probably right. I think the spoopiness of egregore is that the idea is itself invested with agency. I think Spooks don't necessarily have agency, like inanimate abstract concepts (justice, freedom, the afterlife) can be spooks, but a egregore imagines someone or something that can do something to you (a beauracracy, the devil, Santa Claus).
I could be wrong.
Egregore is personified Spook?

You do realize that not everyone is you or me?
Are you really telling me that you haven't observed the overwhelming majority of people consistently and rationally distinguish between additive and multiplicative risk? I don't believe you, but I'm willing to entertain I may be giving the general public too little credit. But when I see the way people treat health risks or isolated moments of potential risk, I am not convinced

I don't think a lot of people tend to see that far ahead in the future, so they go making uncalculated mistakes then end up generalizing large groups or making assumptions even though it was their fuckup in a way

Then other times I guess some people expect the worse and miss out on the chances for good things. Guess it annoys me too when people talk about percentages. Half the time there's no reasonable source behind any of their percentages either

Even when there is, but you're right most people are just giving a rough estimate of their personal and very intuitive assessment of a situation, it's only applicable to a certain static set of conditions.
I just often find myself having to remind people of compounding effects, good or bad.

>natural disaster causes people to go into a frenzy, and a battle takes place, taking everyone in with it
>the battleground is also a stage
>stepping out of the arena, i find a room which is a garden with asians gently walking around in old fashioned dress
>fall in love, but she disappears
>start toppling statues and insulting people to get their attention
>point toward the war outside
>the world is flooded, and a great ark approaches demolishing ships in its path
>turn around again, and the asian garden is destroyed and flooded
>get swept into cavernous waters goonies style
>eventually end up on dry land, where people are reconciling
>cant find the asian girl
>the war seems to have taken place underground, in a kind of sinkhole
>jump in
>go back to the garden
>its dark and overrun with weeds
>find a gate that opens in a nice city street, altogether different setting
>see the asians again, walking around calmly again, in weird pseudo future clothes like picrel
>recognize the woman, but she turns into someone else
>get into cab
>get nervous as the driver seems sinister and we begin to descend into an underground car port
>wake up

I was the same anon until i read a book i really liked, find a book based on a period or theme of history you really connect with. I read a lot of eastern euro books which got me into it because i related to the mundane depressive attitude. I remember a line about having to count every dollar you have just to make it by and that really connected with me.

Then i read some sci-fi books and the first was a collection of short stories and the first story was amazing but the rest were fucking garbage autistic shit. Then i started reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep and that was very good, the main plot points are the same as blade runner but their are really key moments that hit hard and capture the morbidity of sci-fi.
