Alright /lit/, you all know and read the classics. But do you do the same with other art forms? Let's talk classical music, any style or period, and your favorite composers, pieces, performers, recordings etc.

scriabin, bach, and reich never fail me. mostly a fan of modernist/minimalist composers, which somewhat mirrors my taste in lit

My tastes only extend from early Italian baroque of Monteverdi thru Pergolesi, Boccherini, Vivaldi, Bach, Purcell to Handel, and beyond that only including Mozart and Haydn. Everything before or after that I simply don't consider music. Cope and sneed in the comments below.

Here are some examples.
Missa papae marcelli by palestrina is gold(especially kyrie).
Mass in Si minor by Bach is gold(especially gloria).
Messiah by Haendel is gold (especially for unto us a child is born).

>music
Pretty easy to do, there's already a collection of charts on /classical/, add in a few genres of modern music with introductory /mu/ albums and its done. It's basically already done, but scattered around /mu/.
>architecture
Books, pics and locations, would be basically a guidebook.
>sculpture
Pictures and locations to go, a few books.
>dance and theatre
A collection of books and videos, some places to visit and watch.
>photography
Books about history and technique and lots and lots and lots of pics to see.
>painting and drawing
Literally the same as photograpy.

Overall, a 7/10 task, would take a few weeks for 4chan autists to make and a few years for academics. Not a single person would finish it.

I would really like to get into classical music, but the problem is that I have received basically zero music education (I have no idea what "in C Minor" means, for example) and I would really like to learn how to read sheet music but so far no one has been able to help me. It seems like everyone has learned this when they were in music school and there are no beginner-friendly resources for those who wish to learn how to enjoy classical music.

To be honest, I’ve always been varied on my opinions of which composer is the “best”. I go through phases more than anything, currently I’m going through a Telemann phase mixed with a fair amount of Borodin. I guess if I have a hot take it’s that while I understand Bach’s reputation, for Germanic baroque composers I would say Telemann is better.

pretty tame choice for jazz when legends like coltrane and dolphy exist. not disrespect to armstrong though, just not as notable to me as other for jazz.

>If Wagner does not dominate time like Beethoven, neither does he fulfil it like Schubert. He revokes it. The eternity of Wagnerian music, like that of the poem of the Ring, is one which proclaims that nothing has happened; it is a state of immutability that refutes all history by confronting it with the silence of nature ... the amorphous primal condition.
