Without a proper central european education and an interest in all the science you will not get anything out of this.

What books do you consider prerequisites for this then?

there are too many to list and you need more than just books. You need to have seen the art, visited cities, countrysides, mountains and the see and seen the buildings even if just the ruins. And I really think you need to have done the hard sciences outside of a classroom and jsut reading a book. Experience in a chemistry/physics lab is essential for grasping gaustian science.
You need to be proper european.

But a good list he himself gives is Book 1 end of chapter 5 where he lists the TRUE philosophy of the occident. It starts with:
>1819 Schopenhauer, "World as Will and representation"...
>1836 Schopenhauer, "Über den Willen in der Natur"...
>1840 Proudhon, "Qu'est-ce que la proprieté"...
>
>
>1905 Shaw, Major Barbara"
you should have read at least half of those listed books.

Personally I say you need to understand and feel the Goethe-Kant distinction the most.

Oswald's father, Bernhard Spengler, held the position of a postal secretary (Postsekretär) and was a hard-working man with a marked dislike of intellectualism, who tried to instil the same values and attitudes in his son.

it's a great book, but as others have said, if you're new to history, art, philosophy and even math, then it might be a little difficult.
but there's still a lot of stuff you can glean from it, even if not everything. Definitely keep it, even if it's too difficult for you right now. Maybe after you've leveled up some more you can give it another go

I lived in islands and mountains for 28 years. And all I wanted was to move in the city. To find I don't know what. Last year I finally left. When I arrived here, I knew what I was going to meet and wanted to witness it; mainly the worst things, pain, misery and to be completely alone in a city of 5 million people. Last week I went back to the islands. And I couldn't speak with my friends. We had a dreamy time together for 2 days but I was completely silent. I came back in the city and I decided to get away from here. It's disgusting for me. I did breath clear oxygen and had clear water and here I've gone sick, my body and mentally. My skin, my hair, my health has a very noticeable difference. And what for? I came upon this book I don't know how and I gifted it to myself and my best friend. I don't give a fuck about the city. I want to go back to the mountains and the islands, breath and fight for them. The city doesn't give a fuck about me too, so we're fine.
Now I'll shut the fuck up and take my secret meds.
