Just finished Dune and loved it. Are the sequels worth reading?

No, the sequels feel quite hollow and rushed, it didn't really go into the details of the politics and character development and religion etc that made the first Dune great; Dune was a normal fiction book with some science fiction elements, the sequels are more like cookie-cutter science fiction books, more about the science and the fiction, instead of the characters and story; you can just read the wikipedia summaries to get a good idea of what they are like, you don't have to read 5 400 page books at all.

Messiah

Children of Dune

>God Emeperor
The reason to plod through Children, and a payoff to everything

Don't read anything after God Emperor. it's just shallow cash-in on Frank's legacy.

Thank you all for three dissenting opinions. I’ll give it a shot

Not even good fiction.
Author is a brainlet that understood neither history, geography, biology, religion or interpersonal relationships. A torture to read.

Yes, but only because they take you to God Emperor.
