This book caused me to become cognizant of the ambient despair I feel at my own loneliness for the first time. Since then I have been chasing hope through the literary and philosophical traditions and have failed to find any. It did get me into literature though so thanks I guess Danielewski.

I read the print version and I hated it, too. It was a while ago, but I don't remember it being particularly interesting. The experiment in format was a failure, imo. It was annoying and pretentious.

I happened to read it when I was 16 and thought most of the gimmicks were fun. It helped warm me up for postmodern/experimental lit, but I've felt no inclination to revisit it as an adult.
