I read this the other day, I don't read much. It was alright :\

I read a lot of sci-fi short stories, it's the perfect format for those weird concepts that aren't quite enough to sustain a novel. A few favourites off the top of my head are...

Lot - Ward Moore
What Can Replace a Man? - Brian Aldiss
The Author of the Acacia Seeds - Ursula Le Guin

It includes a special guest appearance of another short story, too!

Why don't we use the established short story thread?

You are neglecting Uncle Wiggly in Connecticut, though, For Esme is great.

What You Pawn I Will Redeem by Sherman Alexie. I'm surprised nobody's made a film out of this yet.

why are you typing in caps?

and Salinger is my favorite too

>> No.2034661

Okay. I mean, that is fine, but, to me, it is a particularly tragic story. Sure, it is the woman's fault somewhat that she is in her situation, but it is still tragic -- she lost her husband and married another out of fear, almost. And Salinger writes her love so well. But, whatever lifts your skirt up.

You clearly do not frequent this board. Capsguy just writes in caps. He is not mad or yelling, but just chooses to.

SO IS THAT YOUR FAVORITE SHORT STORY FROM JEROME DAVID SALINGER?

>>2034663

I AM NOT CAPSGUY. IT JUST HAPPENS THAT WE BOTH TYPE IN CAPITAL LETTERS. I WRITE IN CAPITAL LETTERS TOO. I WRITE AND TYPE IN CAPITAL LETTERS BECAUSE I LIKE CAPITAL LETTERS AESTHETICALLY AND I SLIGHTLY DISLIKE TYPING AND WRITING IN "LOWER CASE" LETTERS.

yeah I admit that I'm not a regular member here. My favorite story from Salinger would have to be Teddy.

I don't think that I could really decide. For Esme is a really great story as-well, don't get me wrong, but I have always been attached to Uncle Wiggly. I have read all that he has published in books, but none of his stories that were published individually in The New Yorker or other publications. In a way, Raise High the Roof Beam Carpenters and Seymour -- an Introduction is a pair of short stories (they were published individually, originally), and, if I could choose them, I would. Seymour -- an Introduction is fanfuckingtastic, transcendent. I really love that story so much. So, perhaps I would choose that, though it appreciates much being paired with Raise High.
