Does anyone else ever feel like there was this way that history was supposed to go from a European, African, and Asian perspective, and then America showed up, got powerful, and fucked it all up?

I don't know how to describe it, but sometimes, when I read history, as well as philosophy and literature, it's hard not to look at the United States as some huge, loud dude who crashes a party that had been going on for hours before he showed up, and then he proceeds to break all the dishes and get into fights and finally just burn the entire house down.

You see this relevant to this whole discussion on Marxism. Like, Marx had this grand vision of the dissolution of capital and the coming into being of the socialist state. But America has basically thwarted that every single time it looked like it would happen, and now you've got Marxists even saying that the revolution isn't going to happen. It's just another instance of America crashing the party. Over and over, America crashes everybody's party. It's like the United States lives to disrupt.
