ITT we suggest books that we think should be added as mandatory reading in the American high school curriculum. Here's mine.

What do people think about dedicating one year to the Iliad and Odyssey? Good themes, beauty and a reasonable introduction to ancient greek culture and literature from an early age. If you get lucky and have a good teacher who puts effort into the lessons and slides it would be pretty kino.

Frankly not a bad answer. You could never recommend something like the book in the OP to become generalized writing, considering it'd disrupt the very foundations upon which the short-lived machinery of consumption feeds, but this set of atomizing propaganda (even allowing the slaves some spiritual cope to respect their supposed rights as humans) is so accurate towards the needs of the whole I'm hesitating to believe this anon, himself, ISN'T one of the sociopaths up top. Very good stuff.

No need for the masses to read Bernays advocating for the propaganda state when they already love propaganda and believe it to be a good thing. Look how they cheer on American intervention in the Ukraine war, look how they settle into predictable camps every election cycle and on opposite sides of every news item presented to them. I'd rather orient them towards caring more about themselves and less about issues beyond their control that they see on a screen. But that's just me :)

Chomsky's descension from providing endorsement of OP pic rel --> occupying the inverse position in the present day is pretty interesting

Whoa whoa whoa, there is nothing wrong with Epictetus. The others, sure. Marie Kondo's philosophy especially you can sum up with "if it doesn't spark joy, get rid of it".

What's wrong with that?

Again, you've got your heart in the right place. For as much as Bernays advocates brain-washing, reading a theory still applied today at least makes you consider your immediate surroundings. Hell, I'd assume if Propaganda was required reading during either high school or common university courses we'd be seeing far more rebelling against the very system, for as cheap as those desestabilizations are destined to be.
That list just skips the bullshit. It presents a fake peace which only the wicked are doomed to wake from. It lets the usual sack of flesh go about its merry ways without too much thrashing, leading a life of unceremonious production and a death of unceremonious emotional turmoil. All things in place, as they should be, and any actual emotional depth beyond the immediate individual (understood as the ego, and not what lies within or beyond) is just destined to be an eccentric, unproductive and annoying outlier. I like it, down to the Marie Kondo recommendation with just the right amount of irony. It promotes spiritual death by masking itself as spiritual growth.
Fucking hell, is it devilish, though.

You don't need to read an entire book of it. I think a lot of Kondo's hype is literally just Japonisme.
