k so pic related is the render that canva.com gives me at 1545x2000px;
the actual photo w/ EXIF is somewhere on /p/ (god knows (i can't index archives(?)))?
here's a link to the 3091x4000px that canva gives me (this board doesn't support large files (and i can't be bothered to spam it on /p/ for you)):
https://drive.google.com/file/d/14O4OWRz9r2qWHfFgwp3fpvpezL_2qE4e/view?usp=sharing
obviously it's cropped to ISO A4, (√2), which is cool for vertical display (hotdog portrait) but not really for horizontal (hamburger landscape).
and it has a watermark still, so tell me if you want it without the watermark. i will scour my canva uploads for a bit and see if the original turns up (it's in there it's just buried in thousands of images).
also if you spend a while on /p/ you will discover absolutely insane wallpapers. that board is shockingly untapped and pretty much could support just a photography magazine all on it's own (seriously).

im sure plenty of dumb morons would be glad to throw some money at this magazine once we're all rich. I've actually thought before how cozy it would be to have my own personal magazine; i think there's some great potential for underground magazine scenes with the coming web3 type shit. If whoever is behind this magazine could be convinced, would it be so bad to have funny advertisements on a page for gamestop? Like, fake adds for the business itself would be funny imo but others might want to actually display a quick rundown of how fucked wall street hedge funds are regarding gamestop stock. we just like the stock... and there are some great OC makers in our /gme/ threads... just an idea, no pressure.

ill try and lurk a bit and figure out this magazine stuff, thanks for giving me this opportunity to check something new out. I support grassroots culture, so well done everybody!

i'm not the only editor. another anon, Prussia, he made a few issues. he brought up a lot of the points you just mentioned, getting the crossboard hype.
it's pretty much the next step for sure. i am duper busy but if i could sit down and really come up with a strategy to get some /biz/ sponsorship, i think it would lead to something deeper.
Prussia is a legend by the way. he's behind a few Anonymous bestsellers in his own right. heavy hitter.

thanks yo it's a collaborative effort.
in the very beginning the print version was huuge. now it's not really a thing, i sell maybe a copy a month. i don't even have all the copies myself because i left them at rehab lol.

i used a service called MagCloud to print on demand so i don't have any overhead. it's fine but Lulu is cheaper. Prussia was publishing his issues through Lulu however i needed to get and learn Adobe Indesign to use Lulu and to be straight i don't give &amp any love. i kinda show up and dip. ANYway yes i would love to accept crypto for print.

transitioning &amp into a business is a whole nut to crack. i would need a little money and a lot of time. i honestly believe that as long as we keep stacking issues, we have a better chance of appealing to an investor.

for now it's child's play.

it would be cool to get some serials, i've always wanted serials. i'm going to serialize my novella in &amp, i put chapter one in 001 and chapter two in 012.
to be fair though, &amp (and it's common contributors) generates a style of it's own, somewhat edgy, often irreverent, and usually abstract or heavily stylized. i wouldn't ever want to compromise that kind of uniqueness simply for the sake of my own creative control.
i enjoy the mashup, the disparity, and the chaos.

it would technically be fair use as she can't expect a reasonable degree of privacy while parading down the street however in the case that somebody considers the magazine to be a commercial product, then i'm required to produce a release document clearing all human subjects.

Makes sense. I like how transgressive and edgy it is . Fish in the wrong waters and it will start to lose that edge and approach a softer and less gritty average as normies submit pieces about mundane petit-bourgeois trifles. It might also bring in a higher quality level of writing however because their are lots, if not mostly amateurs on this board.
You're not going to make real money off of this no matter how well it goes so don't worry about that. Just focus on creating something to be proud of .

i think the best way is to write sensationalist articles for the online edition, screencap their bait-flavored headlines, and share them on /pol/. lots of spammy memes and (((disinfo))) proliferate that way. that's my approach anyway. i'll try it soon.
>>20313246
>you're not going to make any money off of this no matter how well it goes
this is true and a really useful redpill. it absolves us of the responsibility to make money so that we can focus like you said on creating.

>> No.20313363

>and share them on /pol/
Do you really think it's a good idea to use the traffic on /pol/ for lift? It might work but the mag's "reputation" will be forever stained by the association in the eyes of normies. Also drawing that board's attention to your site will assuredly result in your inbox being filled with spam submissions filled with nothing but the N-word.

>>20313283
>this is true and a really useful redpill.
Yeah I mean it's publishing and it's homebrewed and small scale. I think the best you could hope for is a modest supplementary income. Any double digit units in sales of physical copies per month should be the first definition of success.

I have another suggestion. Your pricing for the physical copy is a bit steep at $21.70. Is that to cover the production costs or are you trying to turn a profit? I can't speak to the production quality of it but I can imagine it might be expensive to print.

Maybe try the old sales trick where it's sold 1 cent less. Maybe $19.99. At a glance the weird pricing of $21.70 makes it look more expensive

>> No.20313555

>>20313363
i feel like we're insular enough to skirt or at least deal with association to /pol/ but it was only an idea and not an amazing one. clickbait isn't super innovative desu.
the price on magcloud is the cheapest i can make it while still doing high gloss pages, perfect bound spines. the key to getting cheaper is to solve it for Lulu. Lulu holds the key. MagCloud is a shit platform and i'm a loser for choosing it but i'm stuck in my ways. i'm not actually a real designer, i don't use Adobe, just Canva. i would like to be able to sell it for $19.99.
ordering in bulk and then actually selling the magazine ourselves, accepting crypto, those things take overhead which hasn't materialized yet. it doesn't cost me much to keep the website alive.

Ok. One other suggestion: it might be good to try to find some unhappy soul to volunteer as a proof-reader. I came across a few typos that could've been corrected to add that extra bit of polish.

I'm just a random submitter, but if you send shit in it'll make it into the mag, I think. Like you said, there doesn't actually seem to be a lot of content pouring in. People can bitch that the writing sucks, but I think the point of the mag being genuine writing from /lit/ is the primary point.

On that, I was thinking whether a contest over best entry in the last 3/4/whatever issues would be cool. Dunno how voting or anything would work, but it'd be cool to highlight board-favourite pieces and encourage improvement in submissions. Plus it'd become a quasi-"/lit/'s best" archive. Winners get a re-print and 1 unit of their favourite shitcoin.

Here is my submission, a poem by J.P. Rutman:

Wherefore art mine gorgeous maiden
Busty, swift, and young and jaded,
Who, my kisses thus evaded
Somewhere in her youth?

Give her now, beyond her years
Her growing pains and growing fears
The convalescence of her tears
Hath given her to me

"Ho ho, what's this? I must have missed?"
The wondrous news about my bliss
A stately girl reduced as this?
It's sad for all to see

But if she's got to have her wish
Such precious moments cannot miss
Of course she has to have my kiss:
A dirty, smelly ape!

In "Void", the (1st person) narratorial voice and the indeterminate narration of events, going back and forth between an explicit happening and a more timeless description of the situation, in a span of time of (let's assume) a month or two in a short space of text works very well. It's fitting for the narrator, but it also just suits the short story form very well and reminds me of other short stories I've read. Perhaps for those reasons lending themselves so well, but in terms of narration I already think it's a step up from Eggplant, which I also enjoyed.
