Do you remember when the two Walders were in Winterfell? They played a game called "Lord of the Crossing," where they would put a log over a stream or body of water, and one of them would stand in the middle and guard the crossing. The other would make oaths to try and secure passage. If he used the word "mayhaps" in their oath it didn't count, so the goal of the game was to sneak in the word mayhaps without the other one noticing.

So what does Lord Walder say when Catelyn asks him for some food when they arrive (and implicitly his protection under his roof as their guests)? "Food, heh. A loaf of bread, a bite of cheese, mayhaps a sausage."

I almost stopped reading.

Well I did for a couple of days, but I seriously questioned whether I still had any interest in the book.

Of course I went back to it, but still.

I'm really hoping Arya chops off Lord Frey's dick at this point. He's old enough that he'll die pretty soon anyways, but he deserves something a lot more heinous than dying of old age.

Passage from Dany's vision in book 2:

Farther on she came upon a feast of corpses. Savagely slaughtered, the feasters lay strewn across overturned chairs and hacked trestle tables, asprawl in pools of congealing blood. Some had lost limbs, even heads. Savaged limbs clutched bloody cups, wooden spoons, roast fowl, heels of bread. On a throne above them sat a dead man with the head of a wolf. He wore an iron crown and held a leg of lamb in one hand as a king might hold a scepter, and his eyes followed Dany with mute appeal
