Start with Trevor Bryce's Very Short Introduction on Babylonia, then move to the translated texts available in the Oxford paperback. You might want to read about philological considerations on ancient texts (https://seal.huji.ac.il/)), and a broader history of the near east (Liverani, 2014, Routledge). A short approach of sanskrit is a plus. I have never read one bit of akkadian literature and am pulling these recommendations out of my ass.
