I feel like Canadian Literature is overlooked in /lit/ these days, despite having a lot of respected authors and known big names that used to be talked about in the good old days.

The word "Canada" was stolen from french canadians who are now called Quebecers. Everything canadian comes from french canadians. Anglo canadians stole everything from frenchies even the name canada. Anglo canadians despised everything canadien and related to britain until very recently and they took canadien culture as their own. French canadiens have a few classics like maria chapdelaine, trente arpents, etc, but our litterature is poor because we were a people of peasants who worked the land in a very harsh climate, leaving no time for bourgeois hobbies like literature

our russian teacher in HS was honestly the best pedagogue I've ever met, but as a person she was somewhat off. when the og ukrainian conflict happened (2013-15) she sometimes showed us propaganda websites instead of a lesson, claimed ukr school fairs sell compot labelled as the blood of russian infants, always said she yearns to watch the execution of Poroshenko etc

which leads me to thinking, do politics really occupy such an isolated specific region of our minds? is this why targeted propaganda is so effective? are we doomed since politics are so far detached from actual humanity?
