Global GDP would increase, the relative differential wouldn't necessarily be as large as you think. The flip side of this is saying technology doesn't cause unemployment. In the long run that's true but in the long run everyone today's dead. In the real world obviously new technology can cause old jobs to not be needed and immigrants can outcompete for todays scarce positions. In theory people can retrain for new jobs or accept lower nominal wages for higher real wages but in reality the problems of adjustment.

No south-American immigrants cost money on average. The only people good for the country to import are the really smart ones who can (or are) be educated. There is however a very limited supply of those so making it easier to immigrate through legal means really means the percentage of useless immigrants will increase compared to usefull ones. This will be a huge financial drain on the government overall.

Then most of those people will go to big cities in search for work, driving up house prices and lowering wages at least until more jobs become available but that can take a long time.

Then there is the issue of resources. If you want all those new immigrants to live under American standarts you will need more food, water, rare earth metals, emissions, deforestation etc. Many products and natural resources already need to be imported and some like water are already in short supply in certain areas (like California where many mexican immigrants go and would go to increasing the problem).

This is then not even beginning to tackle the problems that would arise from things like cultural and ethnic replacement and import of crime.
