>In 1882, he visited the Tolstoys and, at 63, performed the can-can for the children. "Turgenev - the can-can. Sad," Tolstoy wrote in his diary.

I like the very ending of Dark Tower otherwise yes book 4 was the last good one.
I would say Gunslinger is exceptionally good and different from a lot that I've read. It's standalone in a way.

I am currently trying to do a fourth but it is seeming very futile at this stage. How do I write romance in a way that middle aged normie women, and gays appreciate?

>I have never been in love with women. I have very often been in love with men; my first love was the two Pushkins, then the second – Saburov, then the third Zybin and Dyakov, the fourth Obolensky, Blosfeld, Islavin, then Gautier and many others. Of all these people I still love only Dyakov. For me the chief sign of love is the fear of offending or not pleasing the object of one’s love; simply fear. I fell in love with men before I had any idea of the possibility of pederasty; but even when I knew about it, the idea of the possibility of coitus never occurred to me. . . . here is the case of Dyakov; but I shall never forget the night when we were travelling from Pirogovo, and, wrapped up underneath a travelling rug, I wanted to kiss him and cry. There was sensuality in that feeling, but why it took that course it’s impossible to decide because, as I said, my imagination never painted any lubricious pictures; on the contrary, I have a terrible aversion to all that.
Leo Tolstoy's diary, 29 November 1851

Why is eroticism between men and women pure but not eroticism between men? Also speaking from experience, sometimes I have had almost purely romantic feelings toward other males. Do straight men ever have this feeling too? Falling in love with another boy or man? This is why I get annoyed during these conversations. I never see or hear about straight men falling in love with other men, but whenever the topic comes up straight men say gay men ruin it.

You’re missing several crucial pieces of context here
>Tolstoy and Turgenev were friends with just as many quarrels as fond memories, but neither actively tried to disparage the other
>Tolstoy wrote that down after seeing Turgenev lose his balance and fall doing the can can, which greatly amused everyone present but also rendered uncomfortable those who knew that he was in poor health and was conscious of it (if he didn’t relay it in correspondence with people like Afanasy Fet, later works like the Torrents of Spring certainly examine that subject)
>Turgenev would die the following year
Nothing about Tolstoy being a bad friend or a “bitch,” just a man who recognized that his friend didn’t have all that much time left and put it in few words
