>Head down in my book, clearly deep in the written word
>"HeY, aNoN, WHat ArE yOU ReaDINg???"

Why do people feel the need to do this. WHY DO THEY FEEL THE NEED TO INTERRUPT, WHY CAN'T THEY WAIT UNTIL I LOOK UP OR PUT THE BOOK DOWN

>> No.20225998

>tfw that feeling when you're abruptly interrupted from your reading by the shouts of mother telling you to take the garbage out
>tfw when you get back to where you were literally in mid-sentence

>Why do people feel the need to do this.
Why do you have the need to make a thread about something that didn't happen?

This has happened to me many, many times throughout my life.

I made this thread specifically because of a fat black woman on the bus who felt the need to tap me on the shoulder and ask me what I was reading.

So far as I can surmise, most any other normal person would only read as a last resort, and can't comprehend true enjoyment of the activity, but they're only doing it because they have no one around to talk to, not because they'd rather do it than hold a conversation. It seems to me they think they're being helpful or friendly or are bringing you relief, because nobody actually enjoys reading, so let me go talk to the visibly lonely guy.

It's the only way I can perceive it that keeps them as nice or gentle people, people that aren't doing it to just be an annoyance or a nuisance, and I don't think they're trying to be either of those things. I really think that they think they're helping.

A cute barista asked me this question at the register, I promptly told her and she made this bizarre exasperated face… what did it mean? I watched her as she spent the next ten seconds squirming in place, obviously uncomfortable in the silence. What did it mean? What did she want from me? I answered her question, should I have gave her a brief synopsis?? I only wanted a cold brew
