Secondly, he's mostly not taken seriously by modern philosophers, even within the Church. He's mostly picked up and used as a defence by "mid-wit" Christians.
And thirdly, you are taking for granted our modern knowledge of mathematical induction, a.la. Giuseppe Peano, who came some 700 years after Aquinas. For a 12th century thinker, I imagine he should be considered quite remarkable.
