This book would be much better if Tartt added a black janitor as a comic relief character in whom the 5 friends eventually confide.
He would say things like "you crackas did WHAT to that little white fella?!" or "you in some deep shit now ya sisterfucking bitch"

Donna Tart could never do that because she takes herself too seriously. Every human creation gradually becomes the image of its maker, and our greatest fault and the root of every human defect is pride. Thus the only way to escape pride is not to think about it, to remain naive. But knowledge once obtained can only be repressed; lost innocence can never be recaptured.
