When it comes to non-fiction, is anyone else bothered by unnecessary complexity?. That is complexity that serves no other purpose, other than mystifying something that can be explained using the simplest of words. Pic kinda related

Not all ideas can be simply expressed. Her audience might not be you either: you don't expect all books to be layman-proof. What did you read of hers?

When I read pre-Enlightenment philosophy I always assume that the text has deeper meanings than initially derived, so I make sure to pay close attention even to the smallest details and not skim over anything.
When I read post-Enlightenment stuff I always assume the text is more turgid and convoluted than it had to be, and make sure to not take it too seriously or read too much into it.

Being able to distill your ideas to their essence in rider to present them actually makes you less of a retard than creating unneeded word salads

It's not like there is anything wrong with Kristeva in particular. I just happened to be reading 'Powers of Horror', so I latched on to her text as an example. It's not like she is the worst offender regarding this, and I understand the artistic undertone of her work ;but still, if the whole point is to present your ideas, why not present them in an accessible style? Why would someone who wants to present an idea, go through all this Labour of complexifying their work, instead of spending all this energy in being more elaborate in their presentation?
