What I’ve come to notice about these quotes is how they are devoid of any substance. Its all superficial. It’s literally all style just to sound smarter than they really are. Why is that?

Data decay. With jpgs you have about a year before they become unreadable.

>> No.20195431

>>20194995
PNG uses lossless compression, while JPEG is 'lossy'. What this means is that for each year the JPEG sits on your hard drive, it will lose roughly 12KBs, assuming you have SATA - it's about 15KBs on IDE, but only 7KBs on SCSI, due to rotational velocidensity. You don't want to know how much worse it is on CD-ROM or other optical media.

10 years later and /lit/ still hasn't refuted him

>> No.20195513

>>20194995
Every time you copy a lossy format, you lose some of the bits in the process. This was so that you didn't overburden the cpu when computers were less powerful. It's also why older jpegs look so blurry. They develop jpeg "artefacts" every time you copy them.

This is depressing, it's what happens to an entire generation of children with some inclination towards intelectual pursuit, but no environment to nurture that.
I know about a cunt who's writing an "aphorisms book", and guess what, half of them start with "...Because". It happens because they haven't figured out, quotes are taken out of a larger body of text, they're not meant to be just quotes.
I blame image macros, which don't help with their already low attention span, on the one hand, and on the other, these retards' mediocrity and self unawareness.

I believe that Henry David Thoreau was probably the most "quotable" author of all time, wrote in a very personable, oratorical style that is very dense with meaning and metaphor.
