Seneca have a great influence in Christianity, specially in St. Paul which was one of his close friends, and both admired each other. This is from one of the letters of Seneca:
>"...[Paul's works] are so lofty and so brilliant with noble sentiments that in my opinion generations of men could hardly be enough to become established and perfected in them. I wish you good health, brother."

Stoic, satirical, urbane, eccentric. He's one of the few ancient writers who can make me laugh out loud, and I can't think of anything particularly Catholic about him, catholic as he was in the lower-case term's sense of "wide-raging". Gaius ridiculed him for his digressiveness, but that was the best thing about his mentality.

If scholars think one thing, then the exact opposite being the case is almost a certainty.

Probably, essentially, the main interest of those letters is that they exist at all, and the alleged association with Paul.

Apart from him speaking Latin and the shallow observation that the Stoicism he taught and Catholicism both have ascetic doctrines, he has nothing to do with Catholicism
