Are highly intimate platonic/non sexual relationships possible? Obviously I'm excluded familial and pseudo familial relationships here. Literature that explores this?

Between men or between women -- yes obviously. But between a man and a woman? Probably, for very self-controlled people. But I doubt anyone has every actually done it successfully. Even if you're very self-controlled, why would you create the situation where it's possible you'll slip?
It's like that mini-story in Don Quixote, where the guy convinces his friend to court his wife in order to test her loyalty. The friend does so, but he ends up actually falling for her, and the two make love. So in the end the first guy loses both a friend and a wife. The moral of the story is don't be stupid and put yourself in these situations where things like that can happen.

The intimacy of friendshipdoes not always leadto sexual intimacy, friendship doesn't need to become sexual with members of the opposite sex
t. has friends who are women

Easier said than done pal

Anytime in my life I've gotten a female friend they all eventually end up coming onto me, whether I want them to or not.
I had a lesbian friend in HS, she came on to me.
I had a work friend for 3+ years, after we stopped working together and I broke up with my gf she came onto me (and stopped talking to me once I rebuffed her as kindly as possible lol)

The point is while it's theoretically possible to have this type of relationship, just because you feel like its sustainable doesn't mean your female friend will also.

>if you have gf, female friends will probably find you more attractive and come onto you
>if you don't have gf, probably filling a beta/simp role with female friends, probably not happy internally unless genuine asexual
seems very rare either way

yes. I've had them, but then again, I'm asexual. I don't know if that is a disqualifier.

Have you ever had a friend who was a girl?
>>20160612
These are just your personal experiences, that does not mean you should make a universal assumption about half of the population based upon them.
