Hello /Lit/, I've been suddenly really interested in Christianity and Christian Thought, I have a Bible from my Grandparents and a ton of pamphlets by Robert B Thieme Jr, I have never been too into Christianity but I've wanted to learn more about it. I have always sorta had an Antichristian sentiment, but I've had a shifting of opinion as of late. Any Suggestions, outside of the Two Testaments?

Read a general history of Christianity before you get into the Bible, and the read an annotated version of the Bible with commentaries and explanations and interpretations of various passages and stuff. That should keep you occupied for a good while.

Probably St Augustine or Aquinas
That being said if you haven’t read the bible yet don’t worry about getting anymore books, it’s going to take you a while unless you have a quick reading speed

Become Catholic, it's the correct denomination, and also the one that has been around the longest and has the richest and most fleshed out library of Christian thought. You get the Apostolic fathers, the saints like Aquinas, Augustine who have such a huge influence on western society.
Definitely you should become a Catholic if you want to an experience authentic Christian life in 2022.

Check out A History of the Bible: The Book and Its Faiths by John Barton. It's exactly what the title promises: a well written overview of the history of the bible, giving context for what it can and competing academic theories for what it can't, all while maintaining an incredibly objective viewpoint that is neither mocking of Christians and the Bible, nor pious and willfully ignoring parts of the Book's history that don't align with doctrine. Despite being written by an priest, it never feels preachy.

I'm not religious myself, but the book was an absolutely wonderful overview of the topic and it will absolutely give you enough to know what exactly you're interested in and where to research next.

After History of the Bible, read some of St. Augustine's stuff like City of God, or Origen's On First Principles, both were immensely influential to shaping Christian thought. From there, I'm sure you'll find your way/make more threads. Hope this helped.

Definitely start with the gospels. Otherwise, the posts in this thread are great. Also, check out Early Christian Though by Robert Wilken

Read the Bible, definitely.

Also, for newcomers to Christianity, I always like to recommend Benedict's Jesus of Nazareth series. Jesus Christ, as a person, is the most important thing in Christianity, and Benedict's trilogy will show you how Jesus is viewed by serious Christians.

Your first task as a nascent Christian is to tell us all honestly how many threads of these you've started.
