Do you know a sci-fi novel with a universe that is as detailed as Lord of the Rings?

uh maybe if you count every single bit of the extended universe, with all the books and comics and video games

I think OP is looking for a sci-fi universe created by one author that is as extensive as Tolkien's middle earth

Op asked for a novel, not a cheap radio show!

the Gormenghast trilogy is about the setting as much as it is about the characters, especially in the first two books.

There are only 2 books

I don't think Gormenghast in science fiction

Are you jokingly pretending the third doesn't exist or do you really not know about the third one?

>>2013949
I copmletely skipped over that word and focused on "Lord of the Rings", which made me think fantasy. Sorry.

Someone already said Dune. Aside from that, I'd say Hyperion by Dan Simmons.
