I think thats your problem right there. I cannot say for certain, But I feel like it attracts a certain bent of mediocrety. I mean, most of them are boring in their cut and pasted aspect, preformative. Hell, even their faces are boring and nothing. they are like particularly non discript dolls that require accessories liked colored hair or wacky costumes for any sense of distinction. and even then, its mostly surface level. You hardly ever see actual facial structure, different noses, etc, unless they are a gag character.

Maybe people like them because it feels safe in that kinda way. both being nothing at all, but still having the paint of something out there.
