Does anyone here know anything about writing scripts or screenplays? Or is that not /lit/ related?

that’s ok. Yeah, so I’ve always liked writing and I have a great idea or two, but have no idea where or how to start.

Never heard of it.

You can of course, just start writing a script however you want too, or you can read a script and see how they're organized.

Look at some play, copy what you see in terms of formating, and start writing.

Be sure to double check for proper play/screenplay format, as people in the industry can be anal about it.

I should have included that, if you want to do it as a profession, there is no wiggle room on the form.

Thanks anon. I’ll find a script and do just that.
Also what do you mean by “no wiggle room on the form”?

If the format asks you to submit it 'Courier New' and you put it in 'Times New Roman', your script goes into the trash unread.

They won't read your script if it's not like the others. There's a standard on how they're written, and that's what they will accept, and for many reasons. By the time you'll ever try to sell a script or get employed, you'll have it down. It's not that hard to mimic the style. Especially if you've watched a fair amount of movies, or tv shows, and you already think and tell stories in the same way.
