First of all, because he's the part of the obscure catholic scholastic tradition which feeds no interest in contemporary discourse. Even in my university course on medieval scholasticism he was mentioned as a minor figure, except that we were given his Homilies to read. I concede that this may be due to his fascination with Neoplatonism and Orthodox authors.
