Buddhism and Eastern philosophy is incompatible with modern western society.

In Eastern philosophy, the shaman transcends, or dissolves the symbolic name of the father. This is accomplished thru meditation or by drug-induced state (ayahuasca). It renders the shaman as schizophrenic, allowing his imagination to run autonomously.
>see "divine madness"

In western society, there is no ultimate goal of buddhism. Schizophrenics are excluded from society and serve no purpose. Thus, most buddhism discussions revolve around semantics and arbitrary definitions, and each modern Buddhist practice in the west relies on a master for initiatory structure.

Modern buddhism is useless navel gazing and does not account for the real world.

What purpose does it serve? You do not rely on traditional schizophrenics, nor do you seek to become one.

You mean a concept invented by Greek philosophers who fell in love with young boys?
>In western society, there is no ultimate goal of buddhism.
The ultimate goal in Buddhism has always been the same. It doesn't differ between east and west. Buddhism accounts for the "real world" and goes beyond it.

Why would it have to be compatible with modern western society? You can certainly practice it as a lay person or otherwise reject society and become a monk.

And that's a good thing.

>madness
And here we are falling back into arguments of semantics, when you know exactly what I meant originally regarding shamanism and their intention to integrate psychotic-structured individuals into their society.
>ultimate goal
My point is that it becomes futile ego-centered masturbation when you remove it from its original context

It doesn't matter where ayahuasca comes from. Arguably, psilocybin and LSD cause the same dissolution state experienced by the schizophrenic. I am not attaching a negative connotation to schizophrenia here, it reveals more about our unconscious than most would like to believe.
>>20087531
That's true, but you are not dissolving the ego or transcending the name of the father. You are still retaining your original psychological structure, albeit maybe altering your brain chemistry slightly and loosening the grip of the default mode network thru meditation. The ultimate enlightenment, attainment of zen, and these other confused terms become meaningless when you view it thru a Lacanian lens

>when you know exactly what I meant originally regarding shamanism
No I don't, because shamanism is generally non-existent anymore (and was barely extent even in previous historical periods) and also has nothing at all to do with Buddhism.
>My point is that it becomes futile ego-centered masturbation when you remove it from its original context
And my point is that you are retarded and have not said one sensible thing yet.
>The ultimate enlightenment, attainment of zen, and these other confused terms become meaningless when you view it thru a Lacanian lens
So stop viewing it through a "Lacanian lens" then, because he sounds like an absolute idiot based on what you've said here.

>"Noooo, you can't just become enlightened by meditation and mindfulness! You need a priest and a church and of course to donate lots of money on an ongoing basis!"
I hope you shed these unnecessary trappings and transcend to a higher level, friend
