He found the golden middleway between normies and autists, two extremes that would usually filter out each other. This is important because in our economy-driven capitalist society, that seeks to squeeze out the most profit per measurement of effort, the greatest risk is the alienation if a potential market - if you write a book for autists you will alienate normies and vice versa. Any book that manages to capture both of the opposing markets is a goose that lays golden eggs, and hence why the mouthbreathing statisticians love to dickride people with this kind of potential.

It's also important to understand that Sanderson has been shilled extremely well. There are individuals, and bots, who purposefully spread his works through 'word of mouth' and it's been extremely effective. Personally, I doubt that he's behind that, chances are, it's some marketing guru or whoever has vested interested in Sanderson's success that does it - probably some company he publishes for (if he got any).

How can you cash on this phenomena? The answer is simple: try to capture all markets at the same time, or at very least as many as possible. If your book can capture men, women, autists, normies, woke trannies, race realists, rich, poor, white, black etc, and the book is legitimate alright enough, then you will succeed. You don't need to write masterpieces, because those filter 90% of people, just write something dumb and accessible and capture as much target audience as possible.
