Why aren't there any popular reaction images based off of literature?

In other words, why are books such a small portion of pop culture? Is it because it's too much of an intellectual thing as opposed to other mediums which have visuals to help with its shareability? What would it take for books to be as much as a pop culture presence as, say, The Office or capeshit?

literature is by definition not a visual medium
the vast majority of literature existed before photography
portraits aren't usually reaction image material aside from archaic rap and "give her the d."
most authors in the age of photography are autistic recluses

Effort and time vs return. Other mediums deliever far better returns if you are lazy and want to be spoon fed. It has nothing to do with being intellectual. Afterall there is a theory that says the only reason we have become more intellectual is that collectively it allows us to be more lazy

Did you go to school? Everyone in my classes hated every book, even the fun ones like Lord of the Flies. I loved Catcher in the Rye when we read it but all my friends shat on it or were apathetic at best

I wonder why there hasn't really been a "rockstar author" yet. Embarrassing for me to say that the only one that comes to my mind is John Green.

even in the 1800s authors like charles dickens went on tour and were mobbed when they appeared in public. dickens even had a stalker

That is literally what Hemingway was. His life and antics were a big part of what made him big, all the celebrity drama which followed him everywhere he went.
