Recommend contemporary fiction (90s to present) about normie young people leading normal lives (going in and out of relationships, having sex, socialising, killing time at work, hanging out with friends, etc).

no one is "normal" friend. no one's life is as simple as going out and getting laid. don't conflate activity with personality

Any British novels which fit this criteria?

Douglas Coupland's novels are kind of like this, specifically Microserfs, Generation X, and JPOD. The characters are mostly nerds but they have jobs and relationships, which makes them normies by 4chan standards.

I really liked these books at the time, but I don't imagine time has been kind to them. Still worth a look.

Hey! Nostradamus also fits the bill, actually, and is probably Coupland's best novel. But a lot of it revolves around a school shooting, and it was written back when those where still rare. The experience will be pretty different 20 years later.
