Howdy, /lit/.

So it's my dad's birthday on Sunday & I'm looking for a good, manly book to get him, but I can't think of what. I'm leaning towards something by Hemingway or Cormac McCarthy, or maybe Camus. Can I get some suggestions from all y'all?

You should just get your dad a DVD of Ironman 2.

>> No.2003994

Child Of God by Cormac McCarthy. Nothing says happy birthday dad like necrophiliac serial rapists and killers.

I feel like it was a little hard to identify with anyone in that book, though. You never felt for his victims, & you never really felt bad for him, either.

Krakauer. Manly shit.

You say Fyodor Dostoyevsky, I say Dan Brown
You say Leo Tolstoy, I say John Grisham.
You say Nikolai Gogol, I say Jodi Picoult

It's my Dad's 50th this coming Monday.

I'd get him No Country for Old Men if you want McCarthy.

>> No.2004024

Any of Jane Austen's books. It doesn't really matter because they're all the same.
