Does anyone here listen to music while reading? Is it good for you ? if so what music do you tend to listen to when you read?

for me music definitely helps to focus in on what I'm reading. I pretty much only listen to ambient music while reading, otherwise it's just a distraction.

I listen to music when I read though it has to be instrumental as lyrics get too distracting.
So usually it’s either classical like Beethoven, bach, or Chopin
Sometimes drum n bass or various electronic shit like aphex twin, boards of Canada, burial, just various dnb playlists
Jazz usually more lowkey stuff like bill evans
Or ambient. Brian eno is great also hiroshi yoshimura

I use moodreads.
You just put the book's name and you got a playlist which match with the book atmosfera

I don't at home. I might in public settings where there is too much distracting noise. There I listen to ether classical or techno, somthing that drowns out the noise without being to distracting.
As a teen, when I read the most, I would always be listening to music at the same time, lyrics and everything. Now if there is even a hint of a human voice in the music I have to skip the track

Looks like the other guy said, I'll listen to music if where I'm at is so noisy I'm having trouble focusing on the book. Then I'll pop in some earbuds with some sort of ambient or acoustic something.
Sometimes I'll try to put on a playlist to match the "mood" of what I'm reading, but that inevitably doesn't match what I'm feeling and ends up being just as distracting.

No but I get music stuck in my head so fiercely and vividly that it seriously distracts me while reading. This is, in fact, quite a major problem for me.

I’m listening to Amber by Autechre while reading Spirit and Intelligence by Reza Negarestani. It’s a surprisingly holistic experience imo
