I don’t get why you keep repeating this as if it’s a response: A) He thought Agamemnon would lose without him, yet B) He implored the Gods to make Agamemnon lose. B is proof of skepticism toward A. Gods telling you not to do anything doesn’t change that he thought Agamemnon would lose anyway (but not actually)

I know the iliad gets a lot of sarcastic marvel comparisons but it is actually just a marvel movie. “Aristeia” is exactly what most of the book is spent doing, which is exactly what marvel movies have to do so that that one viewer that loves Hawkeye doesn’t feel left out. Self important? More so than a king who raises armies, takes thousands of men from their home to wage war for nearly a decade all for a woman? Yet when a war leader who's actually fought a significant portion of the war is denied his well earned prize he's in the wrong?
