I’ve found talking to friends about books I’ve read pretty interesting. They generally like hearing me explain a thing with passion they know they’ll never get around to. They’ll ask me questions about it and when I don’t have an answer I know I have to go back and fill in the gap. I also think reading books is more about dropping ideas into non book conversation than discussing the book itself. I’ve read enough zizek now that I can bring a stop to any conversation I want. Just like with referring to themes in movies you can do the same with books.
