Is it normal or am I lazy for not even putting book elsewhere besides my bed?

no, I just throw them across the room after I am finished reading for the night

It’s normal.
I fall asleep reading Shakespeare’s plays lately.

I used to fall asleep reading most every night but have not done that in years, mainly because it would occasionally result in waking up to bent glasses. My current home has goofy construction in the bedroom (addition) and there is a bed height ledge around three walls that is perfect for things like my glasses and current read.

I sleep amongst crumbs, beer cans, books and my Nintendo switch. Also grease stains from eating pizza and little bits of bolognaise from eating spaghetti in bed. I once fell asleep fully clothed and woke up to find I had melted an entire Terry’s chocolate orange into the back of my corduroy trousers.
