What is the point of getting into a romantic relationship full-knowingly that it's bound be over once either party gets tired of the other? Assuming we do it out of habit or purely instinctive reasons, why must one succumb to such and forego the pain that results from such?

Does one truly get liberated from his basic, primate instincts and act in total freedom? If not, then what exactly is the way to attain freedom and overcome such instinctual needs without mostly suppressing them, rather having them shut once and for all? What even would be the point of making friends or enjoying anything at all if its purely driven from an instinctual feeling?
