Well /lit/, what am I in for? Does he write about Art, Architecture and History? That would be comfy.

Yeah. It’s a nice travelogue with bits of his scientific thoughts, cultural observations and a little about the books he worked on while there. Not exciting stuff, but leisurely interesting.

Yeah he talked about art, architecture, history and his search for the classical world. Was really comfy to read, but sometimes a bit long. Definetly a good book though, but not a literary high piece as Faust

Merely as a sidenote. As he started his journey he was in his autistic rock collecting phase, so he comments on that basically all the time: "This type of rock is... LE EPIC."

He talks about stones on the first two pages. After that, only very sporadically. Haven't you read beyond page 2?

From what I recall, the whole time he's in the Alps is basically one long monograph about stones and rocks.
That's a great setup btw for the read-expected-got meme, thanks anons.

BTW OP, did you notice how weird Goethe's proportions are in this painting (especially his left leg)? Tischbein fucked up a little here.

Visual arts don't always have to be accurate if you don't notice the inaccuracy (sculpture especially).

That's true.
