Hey /lit/
I have a simple question:

Is the Necronomicon a book writed by Lovecraft, or it is just an imaginary book devised by him, and mentioned in his other books?

Because i bought the book (pic related, that one) and i thought it was just another story made by Lovecraft, but the book seems to be a series of short stories by different authors.

Pretty sure it's a collection of short stories by Lovecraft. Least, my copy (same as picture) is.

It was first a book mentioned by him meant to send people crazy.
Then he compiled a shit ton of his short stories into one book and called it the necronomicon

The Necronomicon is a work of fiction. H.P. Lovecraft wrote about it as being this powerful books of dark magic, or some such nonsense. Someone then decided that they would write this book, and after that some people claimed it to be a real book about magic.

I assume what you have found is a collection of stories (whether by Lovecraft or not) which has used the name in order to help sell.
