19932405 No.19932405 [Reply] [Original]

Is there a book that goes over which Religion is the right one? There are so many and I don't want to get it wrong. I don't even know what to look for.

Manichaeism?

>> No.19932437

Zoroastrianism evolved to become just as much about the cosmic war between the good “god” versus the evil “devil” as it was metaphorically about the endless struggle of good versus evil between/inside man. Good is found through wisdom (threefold path of Asha:good thoughts, good words, good deeds) and evil is defined by suffering and destruction. There is a concept of heaven and hell where one either goes to paradise because they were good or they go to hell because they were bad, it has nothing to do with belief, baptism, forgiveness/confession of sins to a priest, etc. If you’re a good person and you have no idea who Ahura Mazda or Zoroaster are you can still go to heaven because you were good. Simple as.

I may have gotten some stuff wrong but Zoroastrianism is a very positive belief system for a community and an individual.

Protip: most religions are from God but only one of them is the most pure and complete path towards Him. My advice is what personally worked for me: don't read religious texts right away. Do some readings in metaphysics. Read Plato, Aristotle, Plotinus, Proclus, Christian and Islamic Platonists, German idealist metaphysicians, etc. Only then read major the religious texts.

Cicero’s De natura deorum (‘On the Nature of the Gods’

>On this question, the pronouncements of highly learned men are so varied and so much at odds with each other that inevitably they strongly suggest that the explanation is human ignorance, and that the Academics have been wise to withhold assent on matters of such uncertainty; for what can be more degrading than rash judgement, and what can be so rash and unworthy of the serious and sustained attention of a philosopher, as either to hold a false opinion or to defend without hesitation propositions inadequately examined and grasped?

You shouldn't be looking for a religion to follow like that. Instead try searching for your Truth and on the way you will come to find and beliefs you believe to be worth following. Looking like a religion to follow this desperately, will only result in you either following the first thing that seems right or you just switching between them to often for there to be importance in looking for one in the first place.

You should know that all religions are descended from the same source so the choice is one that remains legitimate but also suits your individual disposition. Highly recommend Guenon.

"The often dysphoric and highly emotional nature of these types of rituals activate the episodic memory system, resulting in detailed autobiographical memories. These dysphoric rituals can produce an extreme form of cohesion with the group, known as identity fusion. DMR posits that fusion with other group members will also motivate the individual to act out extreme forms of altruism, especially when the group is threatened"
