The tone is pretty clear by the second chapter when we're hanging with an old lady scheming trade deals. That said I saw two reviews and both made the book sound really slow but I found it moved along quite fast for what it's going for. Perhaps zoomzooms just need an assassin in every single chapter but I'm really liking the balanced approach to character, setting, and plot.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Goodking. The criticism of communism extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical objectivist epistemology most of the BDSM scenes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Goodkind's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his prose- his personal philosophy draws heavily from narcissist personality disorder, for instance. he fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these stories, to realize that they're not just fantasy novels- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Goodkind truly ARE disheveled goblins- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humor in Goodkind's existential catchphrase "Most fantasy is one-dimensional. It's either about magic or a world-building. I don't do either," which itself is a cryptic criticism of Tolkien and Martin. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Goodlkind's fetishes unfold itself on ABC.What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Bridget Regan tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

Okay bakkerfags, I’ll bite, what book should I start with?

>> No.19926118

>”The Malazan series contains many themes around socio-economic inequality and social injustice throughout such as gender equality with Erikson stating "It occurred to us that it would create a culture without gender bias so there would be no gender-based hierarchies of power. It became a world without sexism and that was very interesting to explore."[40] as well as the inevitability of and role of art in civilizational collapse[41] and many other themes rooted in a postmodernist and post-structuralist deconstruction of the fantasy genre and magical realism.[42][43]”
Sounds pretty pozzed

>> No.19926279

>>19926118
It's cringe. At least come up with something interesting. For example, in the REIGN RPG setting the developer wanted to justify female fighter player characters. He decided that an ancient taboo against horse riding for men (because supposedly it would mash you testicles and make you less manly) meant that riding and eventually cavalry was taken up by women.

I picked up a box of books today from a friend and from the paperbacks it is obvious they were not stored well. Quite a few have varying degrees of slants to them. Is there any recommended way of realigning the spine of the book?
