ITT: Things you don't wanna see turning into a blockbuster but it's impossible because it's going to be done anyways

I fucking wish!
The movie I would remake if I had 200 Million dollars?
Midway.
Also, you're kidding yourself OP. The mega-success of the Transformers franchise means you're probably more likely to see Skyline II than Forever War. Kids don't need a story any more, just 3D 'splosions.

Forever war could be done well if kubrick directed it..shame he's a bit dead.

Roberto Orci could adapt it and Brad Anderson direct it

Orci is doing Ender's Game

Forever War is unfilmable. But Old Man's War, now that's a book that they could make a movie out of, and it's an homage to Forever War.

Old Man's War is a science fiction novel by John Scalzi published in 2005.[1] It was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 2006.[2] It was optioned by Paramount Pictures in 2011. [3]

Wheel of Time series

it'd be impossible for cinema because of its lenght

also there is no in between you either love it or call it shit, but most people who stayed with it love it

>> No.1986116

why exactly is it impossible OP?

too long?

>> No.1986131

Wheel of Time is perfect for cinema. They would cut away all the unnecessary descriptive bullshit, braid-tugging and doing of nothing. You would end up with one and a half hours of filmable material.

They are working on it just so you know. Scalzi wrote on his blog that he is part of the team writing the script for it, and that it's gotten the green light.

Nothing is unfilmable.

The Forever War is just not economically viable unless they changed it a lot like they did with Soldiers of Fortune.

Every single human being homosexual except the protagonist, his love interest and a few others?
Yeah, that wouldn't go over well.

Then later on where the homosexuals force themselves to be heterosexual using a machine that alters their brains?
Yeah, that wouldn't go over well.

The timeskips in general were absurd. Though I understood the metaphor.

I generally didn't like the book though.

That's terrifying. Orci is a vapid, flashy hack.

The poetry and collages were both arbitrary padding. (then again, the WHOLE BOOK was arbitrary padding)

You could have narrations by Truant. or scenes of him interspersed, as a frame narrative, like Benjamin Button or something.

Ubik

It's being done by Michel Gondry, which I guess gives it a better chance than if it was by Michael Bay or whatever
