Yes. For Waldun, reading is nothing more than an aesthetic to wrap himself in. Why do you think he's obsessed with "dark academia" and taking gay photos of himself reading books? Just as teenagers go through a goth phase, Waldun is going through a literature phase. He's already grown bored with it and will soon move on to a new source of personal identity, since he's too weak to forge his own. If I had to bet I'd say his next grift will be filmmaking.
