hey /lit/, been looking for some reading on the history of mental illness (esp autism)--anything on how the concept developed, especially on how people who we would now label 'mentally ill' functioned in society before urbanization and such--was autism as crippling in rural society as it is in hypersocialized information society? (i'm imagining no)
anything in this vein is appreciated.
