BEST

The Wastelands
Song of Sussanah
The Drawing of the Three
Wizard and Glass
Wolves of the Calla
Dark Tower VII
The Gunslinger

WORST

Such a great series, isn't it! I find myself rereading bits of it from time to time, and it only took about 6 months to read all the way through the first time.

I mostly agree with what other people say, about how the series started off good, then lost it for the last 3 books, although I did enjoy SoS a lot, because I like Eddie and Susannah. The Gunslinger and WaG are love / hate books, dividing fans. I'm surprised I haven't seena Dark Tower thread on /lit/ in a while, unless I missed it.

OH SUNHAWK

YOU MAY BE HATED BY PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE

BUT FUCK I ADMIRE YOU FOR YOUR PERSISTENCE IN MAKING ACTUAL LIT-RELATED THREADS.

FOR THAT I HONESTLY APOLOGISE FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO GIVE YOU A REPLY OF WORTH TO THIS THREAD. I JUST WISH IT WAS NOT VERY MODERN STUFF THAT YOU READ AND THEN MAYBE WE COULD HAVE MANY LOVELY DISCUSSIONS ON ALL THE GREATS. BUT YOUR TASTES ARE DIFFERENT THAN MINE AND I MUST RESPECT THAT.

OH SUNHAWK, YOU MISUNDERSTOOD CREATURE. GOD SPEED.

Hey drunk capsguy. I was reading a couple of turgenev and pushkins, and I liked them well enough, should I go Gogol or Bulgakov? I was thinking Gogol could be a bit too dry.

GOGOL DRY?

WHAT THE FUCK, HE'S AS FUNNY AS FUCK. GET ON IT, NOW.

Well, I don't know, I just assume the older an author is the drier he is, for some reason.

ALTHOUGH PUSHKIN AND TURGENEV ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TO GOGOL AND BULGAKOV. JUST BECAUSE THEY SHARE THE SAME NATIONALITY DOESN'T MEAN SHIT

>> No.1974066

>>1974057
I was reading Pushkin and Turgenev to get an idea how russians lived in the 19th century. I was going to read Bulgakov because everyone keeps mentioning Master and Margarita, but I thought Gogol would be similar to Pushkin and Turgenev.

I personally loved The Gunslinger and Wizard and Glass. They were different but there was a feeling to them that I really liked.
Probably my favorite series of all time. Great characters, great world, everything about it was awesome (except the last page or so).

>> No.1974286

I hated Wizard and Glass, but I loved the rest of it. Wolves of the Calla was alright, but the last two weren't quite as good as the first three.
